(BlockBar) Craig Wright, who has been calling himself as the inventor of bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto has applied for registration of copyright on White Paper and the bitcoin code in the US Copyright Office, indicates reports.
In the database of applications for registration of the United States Copyright Office, there are two entries on behalf of Craig Wright. In them, he calls himself the author of White Paper Bitcoin and an early version of the cryptocurrency code. The application is approved, what Wright acted under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, who created two electronic file – ” text » (White Paper) and ” computer program ” in 2008 and 2009.
Applications for copyright registration do not yet mean that the Bureau will grant the patent to Craig Wright. Anyone who wishes to register some kind of intellectual property can apply. But if the US Copyright Office does not receive similar applications from anyone else, then the likelihood is high that the patent will be issued to Craig Wright.
According to the director of the legal organization Coin Center, working in the field of cryptocurrency, the Bureau rarely checks the validity of the application for authorship.
“Unfortunately, there is no official way to contest registration. If there are competing bids, the department will register all of them, ”wrote Jerry Brito. According to him, to stop Wright, it is necessary that someone else has issued copyrights to the same intellectual property. Then there will be a precedent for refuting Wright’s applications in court. It should be taken into account that false registration of copyright in the United States is considered fraud and punishable by a fine of up to $ 2,500.
