(BlockBar) Lightning Labs releases a lightning network monitoring tool, named Indmon, to facilitate users to directly tract the operation state of their nodes.
On July 26, it is reported that Lightning Network, as the second layer block chain protocol, has released a new network analysis tool called “lndmon”, which can significantly improve the speed of bitcoin transactions with special currencies and other networks. Users of Bitcoin Lightning Network can use it to obtain the status of lightning network nodes and other related data which are shown in the form of colorful charts.
This tool is very useful for users running lightning nodes, because users need to set up nodes in order to use the lightning network for the safety’s sake. Lndmon allows users to more directly understand the running status of their nodes, for all the users, no matter who is running a route node and hopes to make money relying on it, or who only wants to know more about the nodes he runs and other information on the network are benefit from this network.
Valentine Wallace, a software engineer at Lightning Labs, who led the project, explained in his blog that, with the development of Lightning Networks over the past year, we have noticed that users have deficiencies in understanding their operating status, so we need an easy-to-use tool to facilitate user management of their own nodes.
Wallace pointed out in his blog that the tool can even prevent network problems: “This year, due to previously lacking of such a suitable tool, some problems in node-to-node networks have not been found, furthermore, these problems becomes more and more serious.” Therefore, Wallace believes that lndmon can “prevent problems by allowing users to monitor the developing trend of the lightning network so as to take active and timely preventive measures. ” In addition to detecting possible problems, by monitoring the charts provided by lndmon, users can also better check their payment records or use it to calculate how to send payments at the lowest cost.
This tool is easy to use (at least for developers). Once users start and run their nodes, they need only a few extra steps to run the lndmon dashboard. Lightning Labs is planning to further expand the tool, such as supporting more lightning network data and allowing users to set notifications to remind them of relevant notice.
